In the recent years, though, it has become a prime spot for those who love to go sailing in Florida.
A vacation in Florida wouldn't be complete if you don't visit the Florida Keys aboard a yacht charter.
However, because there are several to choose from, make sure you can plan out your itinerary properly.
Perhaps you can start at Marathon Key.
The central part of a long chain of islands, the Marathon Key offers several holiday resorts.
It's also situated near Grassy Key, where you can find the Dolphin Research Center.
Big Pine Key, on the other hand, is an excellent place to go for boating.
You can also take several trips to Looe Key, where you can enjoy some bird watching or fishing.

If you love marine life, you will surely enjoy at least dropping by a number of marine facilities.
Not surprisingly, there are fine-dining restaurants in Fort Myers.
The South Seas Plantation and 'Tween Waters are some of the best.
With so many things you can accomplish in this sunny state, sailing in Florida will never be enough.
So better prepare yourself for a weekend or days of great fun and warm sunshine.
