How to Make a Flower Girl Head Piece

    • 1). Choose your base ribbon (the ribbon that will cover the brown or green of the floral stem wire). Make sure the ribbon is not sheer. Also pick out any decorative accents--like lace, pearls or tiny flowers--and your flower types and color. Set them aside for later.

    • 2). Bend a floral stem into a circle. Put a glob of hot glue on one of the ends and glue the two ends together. This will create the base circlet that will sit on the flower girl's head. You can also wrap some beading or floral wire around the ends for added security.

    • 3). Put a dot of hot glue on the end of your base ribbon. Press it to the inside of the back of the circlet. This is the slightly larger part of the circle where you glued and wired the two ends together. Hold it on the stem for several seconds while the glue sets.

    • 4). Wrap the ribbon neatly around the stem, covering up the green or brown. Continue this until you've covered the whole circlet. Cut off the ribbon and glue the end to the underside of the back of the circlet.

    • 5). Dress up the plain, ribbon-covered circlet with some lace or pearls. Or you might choose to simply use fabric edger to wrap around the circlet. Glue the lace, pearls or fabric edger to the underside of the back of the piece.

    • 6). Add multiple strips of sheer ribbon or lace and allow them to hang down from the back of the circlet if desired. Glue the strips together with hot glue, and attach them to the inside of the back of the circlet. You can roll this ribbon up and tape it with adhesive tape if you like. Later, when you remove the tape, the ribbons on the back of the head piece will be curled. These curled ribbons will hang down your flower girl's back, giving the circlet a slightly different look.

    • 7). Arrange your silk flowers on the back of the circlet. This is where all the ribbons and lace are attached. Don't worry if the circlet doesn't look very neat right now. Simply arrange the flowers to cover up any rough spots on the back of the circlet and look pretty, then hot glue them in place. Add any extra pearls or beads at this time if you wish.

    • 8). Allow the circlet to dry.
