If you like to be out in nature, you need to have the right survival gear to stay safe.
There are many dangers in nature that are not found in the comfort of the cities and the suburbs.
You could become lost and need to find your way back out of the forest, for example.
You could encounter wild animals like bears and wolves.
Before you set out, read through the following warning signs to make sure that your survival gear is not incomplete.
1.
You Have Food For Only The Planned Duration Of The Trip You need to remember that the point of the survival gear is that you want to be able to live in the forest under adverse conditions.
You should bring more food than you think you need.
2.
You Have No Directional Materials Do not just rely on your instincts.
It is quite easy to get turned around in the forest, especially if you do not hike very often.
3.
You Are Relying On Batteries Batteries will die after a few days of extended use.
A GPS system is nice, but make sure that you have a compass in case the battery dies.
4.
You Have A Lone Bottle Of Water Water is heavy, so many people do not like to carry it, but it is also very crucial to survival.
The body can go much longer without food than it can without water.
5.
You Have Clothes For Only The Current Weather If it is a sunny day and you are hiking with only shorts and a T-shirt, you will probably see no need for a sweater.
You have to remember that you could be stuck in the forest through the night, though, when the temperature could drop considerably.
6.
You Have Nothing To Sleep With You should at least have a blanket, though a small sleeping bag is even better for trapping your body heat.
You want to be able to spend a night outside.
7.
You Cannot Build A Shelter With Your Tools If you are hurt or lost for a long time, you want to be able to construct a shelter.
This is easy to do with tools, but much harder to do with only your hands.
8.
You Have No Way To Call For Help Do not be so convinced that you will not get lost that you do not bring any way to call for help.
A cell phone or a satellite phone will be best.
9.
You Do Not Have A Knife A knife is incredibly valuable for building a shelter, cleaning food, cutting a trail, and much else.
This is the one tool you should always have.
