Just as all the other types of insurance out there, critical illness cover insurance has a lot of variants and it is important to know that not every critical cover policy is the same as the other.
At the end of the day, each person or individual who takes out this kind of insurance is different; therefore it is understandable to why there are so many different variants on the type of illness cover you can receive.
For example, there are obviously going to be differences in a policy depending on what premium the individual is paying.
These premiums are a monthly payment that goes to the insurance company.
Although if you shop around you will find some deals that are better than others, it usually will come down to the fact that the more you pay, the more illnesses & conditions you will be protected against.
Price is not the only reason for these variations in plans, other aspects such as how well the company is going to protect you when you do unfortunately have an illness or disease.
You may or may not be aware of what critical illness policies actually do.
If not then they basically pay out a lump sum to the policy holder if they are diagnosed to be critically ill or in a serious medical condition.
These diagnoses must come from a qualified doctor or GP.
Now what you are covered for will differ with each different policy.
You may have taken cover for heart attacks, strokes or kidney failure but never covered yourself for heart disease.
Of course, if you wished to get more illnesses covered, this will come at a higher premium to you.
Plans such as this are different depending on what insurance company you eventually decide to use, so as was stated before, it is recommended that you shop around before you sign any contracts.
Before committing to any policy provider, make sure that you are fully aware of the criteria such as what illnesses are going to be covered in the plan.
Make sure you know this because you wont want this thing to come back to haunt you, it is imperative to get this right.
Make sure you consult the policy provider as they will have qualified professionals on hand to answer any question you have.
It is also important to read all the documentation you can on the subject, after all knowledge is power and this is no different.
