How to Attach Wood to a Concrete Block

    • 1). Place the wood on the concrete so that it is lined up exactly how you like it. Fasten it with a clamp or some tape, or hold it in place with your hand.

    • 2). Drill a hole into the wooden board near the end with a masonry drill. Continue drilling straight down through the board and into the concrete. As you drill, pull the bit out every few seconds with the drill still spinning to empty out the wood and concrete dust.

    • 3). Insert two nails side-by-side into the opening with their ends even.

    • 4). Drive the nails into the wood with firm, straight strokes. Continue to drive them down until they are sunk all the way into the board.

    • 5). Drill a second hole through the board and concrete block 16 and 24 inches from the first hole and drive nails in as above. Continue to drill holes every 16 inches to 24 inches until you have anchored the entire board.

    • 6). Remove the tape or clamp if you used one.
