If you’re like me, you’re connected online daily via your PC, Mac, laptop, smartphone, and/or tablet. Regardless of what I’m doing, one thing remains constant -- I’m online all the time (usually through multiple devices). A recent survey conducted by McAfee revealed that 60% of consumers worldwide own three or more Internet-enabled devices. Global e-commerce continues to increase as sales are expected to hit $1.25 trillion this year.

By 2016, 550 million people will use mobile banking services as compared to 185 million in 2011. Meanwhile, password-stealing Trojans grew 72% and the number of mobile malware was 44 times greater in 2012 than the number found in 2011. This trend contributes significantly to your risk of exposure to online threats.

McAfee and Intel have developed a comprehensive security solution called McAfee LiveSafe. McAfee LiveSafe gives you peace of mind by safeguarding your all of your devices, data, and identity while you stay connected. It delivers an expansive solution to security while providing a user-friendly Web-based dashboard that enables you to oversee security on all of your devices. McAfee LiveSafe includes the following modules:

McAfee LiveSafe Windows 8 Interface

In Windows 8, McAfee LiveSafe allows you to check your security status as well as all of your different security applications. Through this application, you can access your password management module and your personal locker, or online cloud vault. You can also deploy security protection for all of your devices.

McAfee LiveSafe Unlimited Device Security

Unlike most security solutions, McAfee LiveSafe provides you with unlimited licenses. Therefore, you can deploy protection to all of your PCs, laptops, Macs, tablets, and smartphones. Traditional security solutions from other companies usually allow you to deploy their application to only 1 or 3 PCs. Furthermore, these solutions often do not provide support for mobile devices. With McAfee LiveSafe, everything you own is covered.

Some of the security features include:
  • PC & Mac
  • Mobile
    • Antivirus
    • Locate, lock, wipe
    • Data backup/restore
    • Call and SMS filter (Android)
    • Web and app protection (Android)

McAfee SafeKey

When dealing with security, one of the biggest challenges you may experience is remembering all of your usernames and passwords to your online accounts. McAfee SafeKey solves this problem. This module securely manages your passwords and usernames, stores your sensitive information such as banking information, and supports PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire. For example, when you login to your email account, you won’t have to enter your username and password as McAfee SafeKey will prepopulate this for you.

The best part about McAfee SafeKey is that it will remember your credentials regardless of the device and web browser you’re utilizing.

McAfee Personal Locker

With McAfee Personal Locker, you can safely secure storage of your highly sensitive documentations with the use of biometric authentication. To access your files, a combination of face, voice, personal identification number (PIN), and Identity Protection Technology with One-Time Password (IPT/OTP) are required. You can use up to 1GB of encrypted storage, which can be accessed from Windows 8, iOS, and Android.

McAfee Anti-Theft

In the event that your device is lost or stolen, McAfee’s Anti-theft feature allows you to lock and disable it. By using another device, you can locate your device and recover your data. The Anti-theft feature provides automatic encryption and has built-in tamper-proof features. The Anti-theft feature is enabled with Intel Core i3 and above.

My Account provides a central location to visualize all security for all devices. This enables you to manage protection from one location and allows you to view how devices are protected and what other security options may be needed.

Beginning in July 2013, McAfee LiveSafe will be available through select retailers. McAfee LiveSafe will come pre-installed on Ultrabook devices and Dell PCs starting on June 9, 2013. Pricing details include:
  • $19.99 for a 12-month subscription when purchased with a new PC or tablet ($79.99 after the first year)
  • $79.99 for a 12-month subscription for existing PCs and tablets
  • McAfee Customer Support is free of charge

With its feature-rich modules, McAfee LiveSafe is one of the most anticipated security solutions of 2013. How well it performs remains to be seen, but there's no doubt that McAfee and Intel’s new security model is impressive and promising.
