How to Make Scarves From Ribbons & Yarn
- 1). Hold the yarn and the ribbon together as if they were just one strand.
- 2). Cast on 105 stitches, being sure to hold the two strands together. To cast on, first make a loose slip knot and place it on the needle you will hold in your left hand. With the needle in your right hand, insert the needle through the slip knot on the left needle. The right needle should now be under the left needle. Bring the yarn under and over the point of the right needle. Using the right needle, pull the yarn through the existing stitch. Place the needles parallel to one another. Place the new stitch onto the left needle and remove the right needle. Once more, put the right needle through the new stitch and under the left needle. Repeat the same process to create new stitches until all stitches have been cast on.
- 3). Complete all rows using the garter stitch until the scarf has reached desired length.
- 4). Bind off. To bind off, first knit two stitches and insert the left needle into the first stitch on the right needle. Lift the first stitch over the second stitch and off the needle.Only one stitch should be left on the needle. Knit the next stitch from the left needle and repeat the same process. Continue until all stitches have been through this process.
