Keep your laptop safe in a Drifter Pack
When I head out for a business trip, I often grab my trusty grey backpack to put house my laptop, iPad, notes, files, a cereal bar, pens, and other stuff that I might need to have handy in the plane, car, or hotel. I've been looking to upgrade my backpack for a while, but haven't found the perfect replacement yet.
That's why I'm excited to kick off a new feature on About.com's Business Travel site - Business Travel QuikTips.
In each Business Travel QuikTips entry, I'll be exploring or introducing readers to a business travel-oriented solution, product, service, or person.
This Business Travel QuikTip features the Drifter Pack from STM.
Can you tell me a little bit about yourself and your company?
I'm Adam Ziegelman, vice president of global marketing for STM. STM is a designer of lifestyle oriented laptop bags, tablet and phone cases. Founded in Sydney Australia, our mission is to provide a more comfortable, secure and stylish means to transport digital gear. All STM products are backed by a lifetime warranty.
What problem are you trying to solve?
Transporting today’s required digital gear can be difficult, uncomfortable, unorganized and possibly not so easy on the eyes. Forget that all important charging cord and your laptop transforms to a great paperweight. Realize your flight is at gate number 157, three terminals away and your lower back will thank you for the fully supportive, articulated shoulder straps.
They guy next to you (sporting the free bag from the computer store) will be asking, “Where’d you get that cool pack?
What’s your solution?
The drifter laptop backpack designed to carry 11-15” laptops plus a tablet and the rest of your daily necessities on your daily commute or multi-modal travel.
How does it work?
The drifter pack is easy to wear, contains pockets in all the right places, and is comfortable to boot. Designed with a retro flair, it is equipped with a 15” padded laptop cell and plenty of main compartment capacity for various items. It also features a bottom zip pocket that holds a detachable rain cover in case of a sudden downpour.
Who is it good for?
Anyone who carries a laptop everyday
How much does it cost?
US $149.95
When/where doesn’t it work or not work well?
When you don’t own a laptop, tablet and or smartphone.
What types of business travelers should try this?
The enlightened business traveler who realizes that carrying a backpack is a much better solution than a shoulder bag!
Any general (or specific) tips for business travelers?
Use stealth slip travel feature on the back panel to slide your bag over your wheeled luggage for an even easier long distance carry.
Lastly-do you have a favorite (or horrible) business travel trip or experience that you’d like to share?
Yep, involves heading to the airport, loading up the car, backing out over a strange bump in the drive. Pulling forward (same bump) and realizing my laptop bag was on the ground behind the car. iPhone, iPad, Macbook Pro all accounted for. Three new LCD displays later - all good.
