Tameside hospital gets support from Eurofox
Tameside Hospital serves a population of 250,000. Seated at the base of the Pennines, it will not only provide first class medical care but also provide economic stimulation to the area. Designed by architects Keppie Design it has been built by a joint venture of Balfour Beatty Construction and Balfour Beatty Engineering Services.
To hold the cladding firmly in place, Keppie Design specified a support system from Eurofox Engineering. The cladding support system was installed by Red Architectural on to which they fixed the James & Taylor terracotta cladding. The attractive terracotta, in an earthy red hue, was matched with an eye-catching white render. This has given the exterior of Tameside Hospital a natural and welcoming aesthetic.
Eurofox Engineering's Macfox vertical bracket and rail system was a perfect means of fixing the James & Taylor cladding panels in place. Precisely engineered, it ensured a lined, leveled and seamless façade and its ease of installation meant that the project could be completed efficiently.
The Macfox system is highly versatile and exceptionally robust. A ventilated system, it is suitable for supporting a variety of cladding types and is fully accredited to BS EN 755 – the European Standard for aluminium – as well as British Board of Agrément (BBA) certification.
Made from high quality aluminium, Eurofox Engineering's cladding support systems are an ideal choice for any project looking to maximise their sustainable potential, as they are fully recyclable at the end of their lifespan. On top of this, the strong aluminium is lightweight, reducing the weight of exterior façades considerably.
The Macfox system comprises of standard, off-the-shelf components with punched brackets for simple fixing to the substrate. They also feature lengthened holes and slots to allow for dead load and wind load. Once fixed to the building structure, the cladding is simply fixed to Macfox's ‘clipping tongue' helping hand brackets. Every system comes with comprehensive advice and support from Eurofox Engineering's experienced technicians and a full set of design plans.
Now complete, the exterior of Tameside Hospital is providing unseen thermal efficiency for the building alongside a standout visual statement that speaks of the facility's position at the forefront of modern healthcare. Behind the attractive James & Taylor panels lies the hidden secret of the façade – a rainscreen cladding support system, designed as ever with the specifier and installer in mind.
