Everyone wants to have a great looking lawn.
The ideal lawn would be one that could be achieved by minimal work and minimal research.
Well, one could be easily achieved if you do the other one well.
One must put in a fair amount of research in order to maximize the health and life of your lawn, but once the research is done, the work is much easier.
Guesswork can cause a lot of headache, and most likely result in your having to redo all the work you had already done and starting from square one again.
It could also cost you a lot of money.
Where do you turn to get the advice and answers you need? Both the internet and professional lawn care companies that are willing to give you some friendly advice would be a great place to start.
Upon asking for advice, you should be ready with any information you need to learn about by having had already assessed any problems your lawn may have, or anything you would like to improve upon.
8 common problems associated with lawn care that you may be asking about are: 1.
Lack of knowledge about your type of soil and grass.
2.
Lack of knowledge on how often and how much to water your grass during each season.
3.
Dealing with shallow root systems.
4.
Dealing with crabgrass.
5.
Dealing with persistent weeds.
6.
Lack of knowledge on fertilizing your lawn.
7.
Lack of knowledge on setting your mower.
8.
Dealing with animal problems such as moles and voles.
An example of how much and/or how often to water is with warm season turf grasses.
For those types of grasses, it is necessary to do a lot of watering each time, but watering less frequently.
Typically in times of lots of heat and little rain, you should water your grass one to two times a week.
For fertilizing, you must learn whether you should use fertilizer or compost on your type of grass.
You must also know how often to fertilize, as over-doing it could harm the grass.
Your grass could also be harmed by attempting to kill weeds and/or crabgrass without the proper knowledge of how to do it correctly.
For example, the ideal time to treat for crabgrass is at the onset of spring.
Crabgrass is treated with herbicide which you would need to apply about two weeks before it germinates.
If you have a problem with voles or moles, there are products that are sold to take care of this.
As stated before, all of the above issues can be addressed correctly for your lawn and grass type with the proper research.
Taking the time to do the research can save you from spending much unpleasant time getting poor results and spending more money than you would need to.
Your lawn can end up as healthy and lush as if a professional lawn care company were doing it simply by learning the basics.
