How to Use DVT Devices on the Arms

    • 1). Place the disposable sleeve around the arm. The sleeve will stretch from just above the wrist upward towards the shoulder.

    • 2). Place the arm out straight. Immobilize the arm when using the compression device.

    • 3). Connect the air pump to the sleeve. The air pump pushes air into the sleeve in predetermined intervals, which helps the blood to circulate or flow better by creating a squeezing or pressure feeling.

    • 4). Look for any signs that you should readjust the sleeve on the arm. In some cases, the sleeve could be too high or too low on the arm, not allowing the device to inflate properly. Proper placement is key in therapeutic compression device usage for DVT.
