As the second largest city in Europe, London can prove a formidable and sometimes frightening city to visit it is easy to feel small and insignificant as you walk amongst the millions of people going about their everyday business. For this reason, many people believe that London is not a child-friendly city, a with lurking menace around every corner; and true, there may be a Child Catcher or two, but these are found in the long-running West End play, Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang!

Indeed, London is one of the most child-friendly cities in the world, there are always plenty of things to see and do, and here, we will describe some of the things you can expect to see when visiting the city with children.

Hyde Park London is probably the area in which you will want to find accommodation, the area is conveniently located near to many childrens points of interest, and the park itself has three childrens playgrounds from which they can choose. Hyde Park is a stylish and refined area of the city, and as such can prove a relaxing and peaceful place to visit. Conveniently located near to the West End, you can easily catch a viewing of the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang play.

Whilst walking around the boundaries of Hyde Park, you will eventually find Buckingham Palace. The children will love to see the Changing of the Guard; the tradition has been going on for centuries, and the funny thing is, the guards are not allowed to communicate any kind of expression, they must stand on duty at all times. Trying to distract the guards has been a much-loved pastime of many children along the years.

Within Hyde Park London, you will also find the Diana Memorial Playground; this fountain was constructed in memory of the late Diana Princess of Wales. It proves to be great fun for children and adults alike, and you can sit on the edge of the fountain and paddle your feet a fantastic experience on a hot summers day, particularly after trudging miles on foot!

Paddington Station is also near the Hyde park area, and London Paddington hotel prove to be some of the most luxurious and relaxing hotels in the entire city. Staying in a hotel in Paddington means that you can pass the station on many occasions, and see the famous statue of Paddington Bear, loved by children throughout the world, seeing the statue is a truly heart-warming experience, and makes the perfect start and end to a day in London.

A little further afield is Hamleys Toy Shop - children will love this shop. This is a department store, spread across seven floors, and is packed with every conceivable toy for children. If you have children, then you must visit Hamleys, it is an incredible experience, and creates childhood memories that last a lifetime.
