If you are looking for a unique party idea that is sure to please your guests, consider hosting a black light party. Guest will literally be aglow when they enter a room that is illuminated with black lights. Follow a few simple tips to throw a successful party that guests are sure to remember. - The decor for this party is paramount—without the proper decor, your black light party will not have the effect you want. The color scheme consists of white and anything neon, as these colors glow in black light. Blow up white and neon-colored balloons and tie them to doorknobs or let them float on the ceiling. Hang streamers in these colors from the ceiling and drape them around furniture. Draw images and write messages on black paper with highlighters and hang the paper on the walls. Cover tables with white tablecloths. The day before the party, fill glass vases or glass bowls with water and place a highlighter marker inside—the ink from the highlighters will seep into the water, and the water will glow in the black light. Use these decorations as centerpieces for tables. Of course, you will need to light the room with ample amounts of black lights.
- Guests glow at this party when they dress in a wardrobe that is illuminated under the glow of the black lights. Ask them to wear white or fluorescent-colored shirts and pants. When they arrive at the party, provide them with highlighters, which they can use to write on their bodies or clothing. Glow necklaces and bracelets are fun accessories to wear at the party and can double as party favors. Girls can give one another manicures with neon nail polish.
- As if glowing under the black light isn't enough fun for this party, activities that fit in with the theme make it even more entertaining. Hide a glow stick somewhere in the party area and have guests go on a hunt to find it. Add laundry detergent to water and set out black butcher paper. Guests can create glowing artwork by dipping paintbrushes in the laundry detergent mixture and painting on the butcher paper. Party-goers will have fun making glowing jewelry with neon beads.
