Hotels are great place to stay at but is an impractical option sometimes especially if you are for a long time stay.
It is naive not to consider other options, unless you do not mind shelling out much cash.
And these options are Bed-and-Breakfast- or known as "B&B", timeshares, vacation rentals, cheap hotels and hostels- yes, you are reading it right.
Australian B&B's are usually cheaper than the B&B's in America.
In most part of America these are sometimes unreasonably expensive.
As a matter of fact, Australia's B&B's are normally cheaper than the hotels.
Just to make sure you are getting your money is worth, ask the management about the things included and not included in the room rate like a private bath, is breakfast ordered check-in/check-out time.
Although vacation rentals are not really the cheapest option you can avail in terms of lodging, they are normally pretty good and usually provide a good service to their customers who are staying for an extended period.
If you are coming with a group of friend, then splitting the cost would help a lot to save money provided the vacation rental has multiple rooms to accommodate you.
Ever heard of timeshare? It is swapping your timeshare with another timeshare from a different place.
Timeshares has three ratings: green for off-season, yellow for mid-season, and red for peak season.
So if you have a green timeshare you can swap it for a green timeshare in another part of the world.
Even if you have a green or yellow timeshare you could swap it for a red as long as you are willing to travel within 60 days or less.
Hostels are just bed rental as opposed to what everybody presumes it is a rented room and can be as cheap as $10 with cheap hotels.
If you need some serious budgeting, then this what is best for you.
You might have heard people saying hostels are dirty, with unpleasant creatures running around or whatever negative comment there is but I am telling you there are some nice hostels that you can stay at.
Some better hostels provide heat and AC, as well as in-room safes and televisions.
Usually, the fee includes breakfast and with some better hostels, lunch and dinner.
