Do you like the shape of your behind? If you don't, you may be tempted to try a diet program to get a better butt. But that probably won't work. Losing weight may change the size of your backside, but it won't affect the shape. If you want to know how to get a better butt, you need to learn how to shape the muscles.

3 Best Butt Exercises to Do at Home

You don't have to join a gym or hire a trainer to shape your booty.

In fact, the best butt exercises can be done anywhere. You can do them during commercial breaks when you watch television at night or you can do them at work.  You can also incorporate them into a housecleaning workout that  burns fat and calories so your whole body looks lean and fit.

Spend 15 minutes each day doing this booty-shaping routine. If you want better butt fast, do the program twice each day - once in the morning and once at night.
  • Lunge.  A basic lunge shapes all of the muscles in your lower body - especially the butt and thigh muscles. If you've never done a lunge, check out this complete guide to lunges to make sure that you perform the exercise correctly.

When you first start your butt-shaping routine, do 2 sets of lunges and complete 10 repetitions on each leg.  As you get stronger, add another set of lunges for a total of 3 sets. To increase the challenge, add weight to the exercise by placing a 5-10 pound dumbbell in each hand as you lunge.

  • Squat.  The squat exercise also shapes the lower body. What's a squat? It's basically the movement that you do when you sit in a chair. This guide to the basic squat will help you to perform the exercise correctly.

When you begin your program, do 2 sets of 10 squats.  As you get stronger, add a third set, just like you did with the lunges. To increase the challenge, you can add weight to your squat or do a plie variation of the squat to target the gluteal muscles on the outside of your butt.

  • Stairs. When you walk up stairs, you are essentially doing a moving variation of the lunge exercise. It's a great exercise for your butt because it not only shapes the muscles to create a round, muscular booty but it also increases your heart rate enough to burn fat and calories.

If you're serious about getting a better butt, I suggest that you take the stairs anytime you can.  Avoid elevators and escalators and climb wherever you see stairs. I also suggest that you learn how to dress to get a better butt so you're always prepared for a mini stair-climbing workout.  At a minimum, try to climb stairs for 5 minutes each day.

The Best Diet for a Better Butt

If you lose weight at the same time that you do a butt-shaping workout, you'll decrease the fat on your booty, reduce the appearance of cellulite and allow the shape of the muscles to show. Your butt will look more lifted and round. Sounds good, right?

So what's the best diet for a better butt? The same diet that's good for improved health. At each meal, try to load your plate with lean protein (no fried foods!), and lots of veggies.  Fill in the gaps with low fat dairy and whole grains. When you are tempted to eat sweets, grab a piece of fruit.  Lastly, make sure you eat the right number of calories each day so that you get the nutrients you need to build a better butt and and maintain a healthy body.
