What Are Some Uses for a Diamond Grinder Blade?
- A diamond grinder blade is a round metal blade with very small diamonds embedded or welded along the cutting and grinding edges. The blade is attached to an electric or compressed-air drill. The grinder blade rotates at thousands of revolutions per minute (rpm). For example, specifications for the Skil grinder model number 9330-01 state a maximum spin of 11,000 rpm.

Bricks and stones contain thousands of tiny sand grains. These grains can quickly dull and chip a cutting or grinding surface. The diamond edge grinder blade is resistant to such wear. For example, DeWalt claims the DW4774 diamond grinding wheel has "350 times the life of conventional abrasives." - Concrete burrs and ridges are sometimes buffed out after the concrete has been poured and has dried, and a diamond-surfaced wheel can perform this task with ease. The Delta Diamond model CUPDX-040T wheel claims a life expectancy 100 times greater than standard abrasive wheels while leaving a smooth finish.
- A diamond grinding blade easily cuts through most metals, such as the iron manhole cover shown in Diamond Industries' demonstration video (see References). Examples of metal cutting needs include sizing electrical conduits, trimming pipes, removing rebar from concrete, cutting roof flashing, air conditioner ductwork and plumbing.
