Second Round Record-Setter
In the second round of the 2011 U.S. Open, Rory McIlroy once again had the lowest score of the tied, a 66 (sharing it this time). It could have been even better. Had McIlroy birdied the final hole of the round, he would have tied the tournament record of 63. Instead, McIlroy found water by the 18th green and double-bogied.
Still, despite that finish, McIlroy set a new tournament record for the lowest score after the first two rounds with a 131.
He finished the round at 11-under, but was at 13-under before that double bogey. That made McIlroy the first golfer in tournament history to reach 13-under par.
