How to Book Online Air Tickets
- 1). Log on to the internet and go to the air ticket website of your choice. There are many out there to choose from, but some of the industry leaders include travelocity.com, orbitz.com, and priceline.com. If you have a particular airline you like to use, you can also go to their website to search for tickets -- though doing that will usually limit you to far fewer flights.
- 2). Type in information about where you would like to go and the dates you would like to travel. Typically, online travel sites will have a search box on their homepage, allowing you to type in a departure city, arrival city, and the dates of travel. Enter the appropriate information, and hit "enter," "submit," or "search" to allow the site to begin searching for your trip.
- 3). View the search results. Typically, online travel sites will bring up a list of possible routes that match your desired trip. Often, the least expensive route will be at the top of the search results, but scroll down the results to make sure. Keep in mind that the cheapest tickets can sometimes mean the most connections, so factor that in if you don't want to switch planes.
- 4). Choose the best flight for you, and hit "select" for that search result. The website will then direct you enter your credit card information, including the number, expiration date, and 3-digit security code on the back of the card. You will also be asked to enter your email address, so the company can send you your itinerary. When you get to a confirmation screen confirming your purchase, be sure to write down the confirmation number and all the pertinent information about your trip, including dates, times, airline, and flight numbers.
- 5). Check your email to be sure you received your itinerary. This may take a few minutes following your purchase.
