    • 1). If the cork is wax-coated, wipe the surface with a clean towel. If the cork doesn't have a wax coating, wipe it with a towel and leave it to dry overnight.

    • 2). Paint the surface of the cork with acrylic paints. Paint any design you desire. You could choose a solid color, abstract design, a pattern or paint a picture. If desired, use a stencil to create a uniform look. Let the paint dry for three to five hours.

    • 3). Spray the surface of the cork with an acrylic sealant. Let the sealant dry for three to five hours. If the surface is still tacky after five hours, let it sit for three to four hours longer. The humidity in the air will affect the drying time.

    • 4). Twist a jewelry screw eyehook into the top of the cork. Twist the hook back out of the cork. Apply a drop of craft glue into the hole the screw left behind. Twist the hook back into the cork. Let the glue dry overnight.

    • 5). Feed your desired chain or piece of ribbon through the eyehook to finish the necklace.
