  • 1). Wear sunglasses when it is bright outside. Bright sun makes you squint and strain your eyes.

  • 2). Take a break from whatever you're doing every few hours. Get up, stretch and focus your eyes elsewhere.

  • 3). Work in a well-lighted area.

  • 4). Use full-spectrum lightbulbs in your home. If possible, use them at work. They are easier on the eyes.

  • 5). Close your eyes every so often, and keep them shut for a few seconds. It will refresh your eyes.

  • 6). Blink frequently, especially when doing close work. It keeps them moistened.

  • 7). Take the herb eyebright as a tea or in a capsule.

  • 8). Supplement your diet with vitamin A, a vitamin essential for healthy eyes.

  • 9). Get enough sleep. Fatigue will cause undue strain on the eyes.
