How to Make a Frame in PowerPoint
- 1). Open the PowerPoint presentation where you want to make a frame. Click on the "Insert" tab in the Microsoft Office ribbon.
- 2). Click "Shapes" and choose "Rectangle." Click and drag on the slide to draw a long, skinny rectangle. This will be one side of your frame.
- 3). Click on "Drawing Tools: Format" and click the "Shape Outline" button in the "Shape Styles" section. Choose "No Outline." Click on the "Shape Fill" button in the same section and point to "Texture." Select one of the textures for your frame. The wood-grain textures at the bottom of the menu are particularly good for a frame.
- 4). Click on the "Edit Shape" button in the "Insert Shapes" section of the "Drawing Tools: Format" tab. Choose "Edit Points." Click on the black square in the lower-right corner of the rectangle. Hold down shift and drag the square along the bottom line of the rectangle until you've created an approximate 45 degree corner on that side of the shape. Repeat on the other side of the shape. Note that creating the angle by eye alone will make it slightly irregular. Use a 45 degree angle guide for a perfect frame.
- 5). Press "Ctrl+C" on your keyboard to copy the piece. Press "Ctrl+V" three times to make the other sides of your frame. Click and move the green circle on one of the pieces to rotate it. Rotate it so it fits on the left side of the frame, then click and drag to move it so it lines up with the first piece. Repeat for the other sides.
- 6). Hold down "Shift" and click to select all four pieces of the frame. Click on the "Group" button in the "Arrange" section of the "Drawing Tools: Format" tab. Select "Group" to group all the pieces of the frame together. They will move and resize as a unit now.
