Picking a vacation destination can be a real trick, especially if you have small kids to tote around with you. The problem is, once you've done the theme park circuit, and hit a few beaches, done a cruise, and toured Europe, there's really not much else to do unless you get a little creative!

That's where I come in. I've got a ton of great creative and exciting vacation destinations that are great for individuals as well as families.. I'd like to share just one of them with you today.

So let's talk about the Tivoli Gardens.

If you've never heard of them before, that's ok...not a whole lot of people have. They're located in Denmark, in Copenhagen to be exact. It's sort of ironic that they're located there, because they look like something straight out of China or Japan!

But I'm getting ahead of myself.

The gardens are one of the most popular attractions in the entire country. Everyone in Denmark knows about them, but they may have slipped through the fingers of American travel planners until now.

The Gardens were built as an amusement park in 1841. They somehow managed to persuade the king, King Christian, that an amusement park would make the people happy, and shut them up for a while.

They were an immediate success. Even today something like 4-6 million people visit them every year.

So what exactly is this place? Well, it's a little hard to explain. But basically, it's a park...a big garden park. There's tons of stuff to do. Kids will love the roller coaster rides, and other fairground type amusement things.

Adults will enjoy strolling along the paths surrounded by old trees and flower beds. There's lots of little cafes and restaurants to enjoy as well. There's an outdoors auditorium that has daily shows of all sorts. There's a lake, with fireworks at night. The park stays open till midnight during the week. On the weekend it usually stays open till around 1am or so.

At night the entire place erupts with thousands of lights everywhere. Even the lake seems to come alive at night.

I mentioned China earlier....there's a massive Asian temple-looking building that houses a restaurant.

Plus, you're in Copenhagen. I'm sure you can find other things to do while you're there...just be sure to schedule a day or two to wander around and relax in the Tivoli Gardens. You won't regret it! Check it out today!
