How to Install a Ceramic Threshold Against Carpet
- 1). Pull back the carpet where it will meet the ceramic and remove any tacks or tack strip beneath it.
- 2). Measure the distance of the threshold and cut a piece of tack strip to fit, using a miter saw and wearing gloves to protect your hands from the tacks.
- 3). Install the tack strip one quarter inch away from the edge of the ceramic, using at least two nails per section of strip. Make sure the tacks slant towards the ceramic.
- 4). Stretch the carpet to overlap the tack strip, using a piece of two by four and pushing it into place.
- 5). Tuck the edge of the carpet into the crack made by the quarter inch gap, using a putty knife and being careful not to pull on any loose carpet threads.
