    • 1). Use your hammer and pry bar to remove the floor trim from the edge of the floor all around. Don't break the trim as you take it off. Set it aside.

    • 2). Roll out a piece of plastic moisture-barrier underlayment along one edge of the floor, on the side where you want to start. Cut it to size with a razor knife.

    • 3). Lay a laminate floor board at one end of the edge of the floor, next to the wall. Set spacers between the board and the wall, creating a thin space to allow floor movement over time.

    • 4). Snap the second board into place at the end of the first one, along the wall. Continue snapping boards together, spanning the whole edge. Continue placing spacers between the boards and the wall. Cut the final board on a miter saw to fit.

    • 5). Set the next course in place next to the first, locking the boards together side by side. Work your way across the whole floor in courses, snapping all the boards together and arranging them so the ends don't line up between courses.

    • 6). Cut the boards of the final course along their lengths with a table saw, so they fit along the ending wall with a roughly 3/8 inch gap.

    • 7). Re-install the floor trim with a trim nailer, covering up the gaps around the edges and holding down the floor.
