Many couples struggle with fertility issues and can be looking for natural home remedies for infertility. It can be difficult to get help with this sensitive issue even though a large part of the medical industry seems dedicated to fertility. Yet, these types of medical procedures can be very invasive, can cost a lot of money and aren't covered by insurance policies, and ultimately, can be less than effective.

In addition to those problems, a lot of women go to doctors only to discover that whatever is causing their fertility issues isn't showing up on any conventional test and that the medical profession has no real idea how to help them. This is because there are many substances that can affect whether or not a woman can get pregnant and many people simply do not know what to look for.

One of the key substances to stay away from when trying to conceive is alcohol. While many women know that this substance can cause serious birth defects and harm the unborn child, what some people may be surprised to find out that drinking alcohol can actually decrease the fertility level of a woman in question even if only small amounts are consumed.

What some women may not know is that high doses of caffeine can also interfere with fertility. Drinking more than two cups of coffee has even been shown to decrease fertility by as much as forty percent. Along with this, many carbonated soft drinks and energy drinks will contain caffeine, sometimes in very high doses.

However, avoiding dangerous substances is only solving part of the overall problem. The body may lower the levels of fertility if it is not receiving enough nutrients to be able to carry a child properly. One of three essential nutrients needed for a woman to become pregnant is vitamin C, and not having enough of this vitamin can cause immune system issues as well as lack of fertility.

Nitric oxide helps the blood vessels dilate and direct more of the body's blood flow to the reproductive organs, and folic acid makes the entire reproductive system healthier and can even work to ensure that the baby that the woman eventually carries is healthy as well. Without enough of these three essential nutrients, a woman's fertility level will suffer.

Women who are trying to become pregnant are recommended to consume at least seven servings of fruits and vegetables. Of these servings, several should be focused onto folic acid. Foods which contain folic acid are broccoli, spinach, and lentils. Fruits such as oranges, papaya, kiwi, and cantaloupe are very high in Vitamin C and also should be consumed. Along with this, it is important to eat whole grain foods and drink plenty of fluids.

Natural home remedies for infertility usually focus on making the whole body healthier and by extension, making the woman's body more ready for the pregnancy. It is important to focus on what foods are eaten and what nutrients the body is provided with.
