How to Fix a Whistling Showerhead

1). Connect the garden hose to an outdoor faucet and run the other end across the lawn. Remove any spray nozzle attached to the hose.
2). Shut off the main water valve in the building by turning the knob completely clockwise. The valve is usually located downstairs, near the water heater or at the street.
3). Turn on all faucets in the house, including the shower, then open the outdoor faucet connected to the hose. Wait for the water to drain, then close all faucets.
4). Unscrew the showerhead from the pipe in the wall, using pliers.
5). Use a rag to wipe grime from the pipe threads and clean inside the showerhead.
6). Wrap the pipe threads with Teflon tape and cut the tape end with scissors.
7). Reattach the showerhead to the pipe and tighten with pliers.
8). Open the main water valve in the house.
