How to Make Clove Tea With Ground Cloves
- 1). Purchase a small bottle of whole cloves and grind them yourself when you are ready to make the tea. Grind enough to make one tablespoon. You can grind them in a spice grinder or with a mortar and pestle. Make sure you do this just before you make the tea, as the cloves can lose pungency if left out for very long after grinding.
- 2). Pour one quart of water into a pot and bring it to a boil. Tap water usually works fine, especially if you have a filter. If you have well water that has a sulfur-like smell or taste, you may want to buy some purified water to use.
- 3). Turn the burner off once the water is at a roaring boil.
- 4). Pour the cloves into the boiling water and allow them to steep for 20 to 30 minutes.
- 5). Use a mesh strainer (finely gauged mesh) to strain the cloves out once the tea has steeped.
- 6). Serve the clove tea hot or cold. Add sugar to taste if desired.
