    • If you have a little soldier in your family that would enjoy an army birthday, there are several preparations that can be taken to ensure that the big day is one to remember. From the invitations, to the decorations, to the food; you can make the birthday of anyone who enjoys the military that much brighter, no matter what their age or gender.

    Invitations

    • Purchase several pieces of card stock in traditional army colors, such as sage green or khaki. Address the front of the card to the guest and on the back, write down that the guest and his or her family are ordered to attend the birthday party of Captain, Private or Lieutenant (name). Don't forget to add all of the pertinent information such as the date, time, which should be put in military time, and the location. Give directions to your home and state that the party will be held in the mess hall or the barracks, which is your home.

    Food

    • Serve which ever food is the birthday girl or boy's favorite. Place the food out buffet style and give each guest a metal tray to carry their rations. A local military or camping supply store may even have rations that can be served at the party as well. You could also add a few drops of green food coloring to some milk to keep with the green theme. The cake can be shaped in any army theme, such as a tank, a helmet or a military star.

    Decorations

    • Keep the decorations in the army themed color as well: green, brown and camouflage. Hang a banner to be seen when the guests arrive that has "Fort (your last name)" written in large letters. Place balloon center pieces that are traditional military colors on the center of each table. Cover the table with camouflage table cloths. Place cards with the guest's names are a nice touch also. Give each guest their own military ranking on these cards as well. If the party is indoors, hang military theme pictures and posters on the walls. Place plastic canteens, army boots, helmets and other military gear around the area of the party as well. The last decoration is a large American flag that can be hung over the cake or directly behind the seat of honor for the birthday boy or girl.
