Advice About Treating Acne

Do you suffer from acne? Are you tired of all those unsightly pimples? Not to worry - due to today's scientific knowledge and technology, virtually almost every case of acne can be treated! Unlike many advertisements that you may see on TV or on the internet, there is no miraculous overnight acne treatment that will get rid of all those pimples.
The truth is, it does take time for your acne to be treated so you will have to be realistic that it will simply not clear up in an instant.
Doctors recommend that it may take between six weeks to eight weeks for results to show up, and it will improve or clear over time.
If it does not, you will just need to retreat the area to stop it from reappearing.
Your Dermatologist may adjust the acne treatment if it does not seem to be improving in six to eight weeks time.
Common reasons that the recommended acne products may not work include skin type, the cause of the acne, and the type of acne you suffer from.
There are many types of treatments that you can go under, if the regular over the counter medication does not work.
Even though you may be shy to see a Dermatologist, there are several prescription treatments that definitely work.
The reason for this is that the Dermatologist can assess several factors that a regular person would not factor in, such as lifestyle, skin type, age, and if you have any co-existing medical conditions that are actually hampering the over the counter medication that you are using.
In addition, a patient may be instructed various methods of treatments such as using two different types of medications, and the time of the day you should put it on.
For example, if two medications are prescribed, one may be for the day time and one may be for night time.
Like most medical illnesses, acne responds well to early treatment.
If you are really having some trouble getting rid of acne, please do refer to your GP or Dermatologist to try and maximise the effectiveness of the acne treatment as it may help prevent permanent scars.
