How to Get Rid of Fence Lizards
- 1). Rake up old leaves, pick up dead branches and remove piles of old wood to eliminate hiding places. Fence lizards get their name from the fact that they love to nest in or near wooden objects, and removing nesting sources greatly reduces infestations. If you use dried wood for wood stoves or fireplaces, move the wood to a storage shed to cut back on the number of lizards near your home.
- 2). Seal holes and cracks around the foundation of your home. Shovel loose dirt into exposed holes and fill cracks with expandable foam to keep lizards out.
- 3). Kill insects on your property to remove food sources. Fence lizards are insectivores and will invade your space if you're plagued with bugs. Hang fly strips near doors and windows and spray visible bugs with repellent to kill them before they attract lizards.
- 4). Install electronic lizard repellents around your property. These devices emit a small electrical pulse to ward off invading fence lizards.
- 5). Wet your yard daily to keep lizards out. Fence lizards avoid wet nesting spots and, if your yard is well saturated, lizards will move on in search of drier habitats.
