Have you ever had to refuse taking a loving couples picture because you didn't know how to use their camera? There has likely been a time when someone will give you their camera and ask you to take a shot.
Maybe it's one of those SLR cameras with more buttons and dials than you can count.
If it's one of the latest point and shoot digital cameras, you'll have no problem.
Cameras that require film are devices of the past.
If you still own one, you may be comfortable fumbling with lining-up the tiny holes of the film with the nearly invisible guide-knobs.
You may even have to remind yourself how to load the film by reading the pages of information that comes with the little film box.
Hopefully you didn't inherit the old family camera from your parents! They were likely smart-enough to have already upgraded to an easy to use point and shoot camera.
You're left with the dud that failed your dad one too many times.
The big day arrives and you are the photographer.
You grab dads old camera and start shooting.
Several weeks later you are invited to view the pictures your wife retrieved from the photo lab.
You cringe when you see the blurry and dark mess you filmed with the ancient family heirloom.
You blame it on your parents and rush-out to get a long-overdue replacement! Things may have never gotten this bad.
They never should either.
If you are like most people, you want a quick and easy to use camera.
You don't have the time to read about focal lengths and light filters just to take a picture.
The perfect device is available.
Point and shoot cameras are easy to use, convenient and plentiful.
They are a wonderful device.
The fact that they are digital means you never have to buy film.
The camera has a memory much like a computer.
Larger memory is available by using an SD card.
You can upload your pictures and save them - permanently - to your computer.
You can see the pictures you take immediately following the shot, right on the screen of the camera itself.
There is no compromise when it comes to quality.
Digital cameras produce clearer and more useful pictures than film cameras.
With optical and digital zoom features, you can easily zoom in on your subject making for a better picture.
The digital feature allows for making a portion of the original picture larger if desired.
What does all of this convenience cost? Not much! You can choose from a great many manufacturers - and types - of point and shoot cameras.
With a few dollars more, you can get a camera that has more memory, or zoom capabilities.
Usually, they can also be used to film events and scenes like a camcorder does.
With large available memory, crisp and clear results, pictures you can print at home - or instantly at a booth in your favorite store, features that do all the hard focusing and light-measuring tasks, what more could you ask for.
There will always be a time you wish you had a camera.
There will always be times you wished you could have taken a picture quickly, or wanted to see the result right-away.
For a great many reasons, there is no question that everyone should be equipped with one of the many great point and shoot digital cameras available today.
