Eddie From Ohio Biography:
It all began in 1991 when Schaefer and Clem recruited Murphy-Wells and Hartness to form a cover band. In the early days, EFO played primarily cover tunes by bands like the Byrds and Blues Traveler. After several gigs, the two founding members began writing original songs, and the group grew from there.
The band's tightly knit four-part harmonies are reminiscent of Peter, Paul and Mary and the Mamas and the Papas, while their instrumentation is decidedly more basic, featuring two guitars and some percussion instruments.
In 2005, the group's touring schedule slowed down when Murphy-Wells was diagnosed with breast cancer. After completing chemotherapy, she became rather active in cancer-related fundraising. Clem and Schaefer now tour both as a duo and as part of the band Eddie From Ohio, while Eddie performs with a band called Brother Shamus, and Murphy-Wells is involved with "Race For the Cure."
In their decade-plus career, the group has toured the country several times, winning over more than 20,000 fans, and selling upwards of 100,000 albums without the help of a major label.
They've released 11 CDs in all.
