Why Resolution is not so Important in a Cheap Plasma TV
720p versus 1080p
Newer models of plasma TVs usually come appointed with the higher resolution, but they are not exactly cheap. As you don't want a poor quality HDTV, you may sigh looking inside your wallet and thinking that it was not meant to be. Forget about that! Cheap plasma TVs can also be of good quality, even if they have only 720p resolution. The truth is that manufacturers use on purpose the higher resolution on their more expensive plasma TV models, to justify part of the difference in price, in the same way they do with other extras. They may be useful to some, there is no point denying this, but, mainly, there is little difference in picture quality.
Optimal viewing distance
As we have already mentioned, there is a difference between a 720p plasma TV and one with 1080p resolution. This difference can only be noticed when using the optimal viewing distance for the models in question. If you wonder what is the optimal viewing distance, this is the perfect distance to stand from the screen, in order to get the best from what the screen features offer. Usually, it is calculated based on the screen size and the resolution. If you don't place your TV at the optimal viewing distance, you won't see much difference between a 720p vs 1080p model. You will get to see wonderful picture quality, no matter the distance, so it is not truly worth it to spend extra cash just on superior resolution.
Cheap 1080p plasma TVs
The rule of thumb tells us that 720p plasma TV models come cheaper than 1080p models. Yet, if you are keen on buying a cheap plasma TV with 1080p resolution, it is possible if you shop around a little more, and find the best bargain deals. Almost in each category of plasma TVs, there are models which are least expensive than others, depending on what you are truly looking in a plasma TV.
