How to Boil Boneless Chicken Halves

    • 1). Place your boneless chicken half in a large pot filled with cold water on the stovetop. Place the lid on the pot and turn the burner to medium high.

    • 2). Add chopped vegetables or seasonings to the water, if desired, as vegetables or seasonings will add flavor. Options include celery sticks, onion chunks, carrots, peppercorns, salt, bay leaves, crush garlic cloves or a sprig or rosemary.

    • 3). Turn the heat to low as soon as the water begins to simmer, as the water doesn't need to reach a full boil. Allow the chicken to simmer until the internal temperature is 160 degrees F. Although cooking time will depend on the size of the chicken half and the meatiness of the chicken, cooking should take between 30 minutes and one hour.

    • 4). Remove the boiled chicken from the pot. Allow the chicken to cool slightly, then use a fork to shred the meat. Alternatively, cut the chicken into small pieces. Prepare or serve the boiled chicken as desired.
