As we move into the end-of-the-year holiday period and peak tourism season in Bali, Indonesia, many travelers will head to the resort island to spend a much needed relaxing vacation with their family and friends. There is a lot to do and see in Bali and depending on your schedule, your timing and where you stay one could find it hard to fit everything in.

Bali is not a very big island. It measures 153km (95 miles) east to west and 111km (69 miles) from north to south. Ordinarily, especially in developed countries, relatively short distances such as these can be covered quite quickly and efficiently. It would seem that easy day trips would be the best way to see the different attractions during your stay. For the most part this is true, but due to the somewhat underwhelming infrastructure on Bali and the large number of tourists, cars and small size and weak condition of the country roads, visitors tend to find these to be major obstacles to getting around conveniently.

This is why selecting Ubud as your home base is probably the best choice for a visitor who really wishes to see as much of Bali as possible on their visit. In particular, Ubud villas represent the accommodation in Bali with the greatest convenience, potential, comfort and most favorable pricing. Especially for families and groups of friends, there is just no better place to host a vacation than in a big, open and luxurious Ubud villa.

Due to the relatively high elevation (around 500 to 600 meters above sea level), Ubud villas are fresh, cool and comfortable for sleeping, eating outdoors and just plain hanging out. There is normally no need for air conditioning. A well-placed fan and open doors and windows provide a lovely place to relax and enjoy.

Furthermore, the mild, gentle atmosphere in Ubud offers a lot of lush vegetation and an abundance of fresh air. The vibrant climate and relatively undeveloped countryside make Ubud very natural, with a great deal of varied flora and fauna. Still, because of the large quantity of insect eating animals like frogs, lizards, bats, birds and dragonflies, Ubud has surprisingly few mosquitoes.

By staying in a private Ubud villa situated just on the outskirts of Ubud it is easy to access the many activities, attractions, shopping and dining that this area offers. Furthermore, by not being located in the center of the city, you can avoid traffic and quickly access roads to outlying areas much more easily and conveniently.

A trip to Kintamani is a mere 40 minutes away. Interesting black sand surfing beaches are a close as 25 minutes. The diving, beach clubs and other dining and entertainment options of Sanur are approximately 35 minutes from Ubud. Padang Bai and Candidasa are both easily accessible in under a mere one hour and fifteen minutes. Even trips to Lovina, Bedegul, Amed and Tulamben can be made into day trips if one desires. Lastly, the fancy bars and trendy restaurants of Seminyak, rowdy bars in Kuta and shopping in Legian is all just over an hour away.
