As what it is designed for, the motor cross model brings extra features that can protect the rider when she/he goes off jumps, including a chin bar and visor.
It is to protect the rider from facial impacts, including dirt and debris, as these two things can cause danger when the rider, such as making them unable to see the road clearly for a while.
