    • 1). Order a copy of your credit report from Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. Consumers are eligible for a free copy of their credit report once each year. You may also qualify for a free copy of the report if you have been denied credit, a job or insurance based on information in your credit file. Judgments against your property are listed in the Public Information section of the credit report.

    • 2). Contact the clerk's office in the county where your property is located to check if a judgment has been filed against you. Some counties have public record information available online; others will provide the information over the phone, and others may require face-to-face contact.

    • 3). Join a judgment locator and access service to search judgment records in all 50 states. You can find court judgment records on yourself or anyone else using the paid service. To locate these fee-based services, do an internet search for "background checks" or "locate judgments."
