Trying to buy a decent guitar can sometimes be a daunting task but it doesn't have to be.
Probably one of the most important things that determine what kind of guitar you buy is price.
Guitars range anywhere from $100.
00 to thousands of dollars but most of us stand in the $200.
00 to $600.
00 range.
In this price range you can actually find a decent guitar that sounds good, looks good and feels good.
First thing you got to do is determine if you want an electric guitar or a acoustic guitar.
You got to ask yourself what kind of music do I play? Are you playing folk music or are you playing some head banging hard rock or just something in the middle? Are you playing in a band or just jammin out in your living room? All these factors should determine what guitar is right for you.
There are many types of guitars out there.
There are name brand guitars and not so name brand guitars.
I've had a few not so name brand guitars that actually sounded, looked and felt good and served me well.
I've had name brand guitars that also served me well.
The trick is to find what's right for you and that fits in your budget.
Just because your looking at name brand guitars doesn't necessarily mean that guitar is right for you.
Check all the brands out before you make a decision.
You have to test the guitar out.
You got to feel it in your hands and you got to strum it to see if it's the sound your looking for.
You got to play every note on that guitar to make sure there's no buzzing noise or dead sound from the string hitting the fret bar.
You got to play some chords to make sure that your not pressing down hard just to get a clear sounding chord.
There is nothing worse than having to concentrate on pressing the strings down on chords just to make sure you don't thump any notes.
Some guitars have thinner necks than others.
Some people have long fingers and some people have stumpy fingers.
A guitar neck that might work well for you might not work so well for me.
So again, feel the guitar to see if you need a fatter or thinner neck because you want to be able to play clear notes and chords.
These are just some basic things you need to know when your shopping for a guitar.
There are many brands and size guitars out there just waiting for you to get your hands on them.
Shop around and take your time and enjoy yourself while your doing it.
There's no better place for a guitar player to be than in a guitar shop just having fun testing out the goods.
You'll find that guitar that sounds good and feels right and that will fit in your budget.
Happy hunting.
