How to Create a Memory Book for an Anniversary Gift
- 1). Locate old pictures of the couple. Take one member of the couple into your confidence and ask for old pictures or check with their close relatives or friends. Start with pictures of the couple when they were dating, if possible. Look for vacation pictures, family photos and baby pictures. See if you can locate at least one picture from each year of the marriage.
- 2). Buy a scrapbook or photo album of sufficient size for the number of photographs you have selected.
- 3). Scan the old photographs into your computer so you don't have to use the originals in your book. This will also allow you to edit the picture if you wish to do so.
- 4). Decide what order to use for the photographs based on your selection. You could use chronological order. Another option is to have "chapters" of life events, such as dating and wedding, children and career.
- 5). Sketch the design of each page. If you plan on using just the photos and captions, you can skip to Step 6. However, if you want to use stickers, notes and other embellishments, it's important to have a plan before you insert the pictures in the memory book.
- 6). Crop the pictures, if desired. This adds a decorative and personalized touch.
- 7). Insert the pictures and any embellishments into the scrapbook or album. Add captions.
- 8). Write a letter to the couple explaining why you created the memory book. A letter makes a good addition to a memory book in lieu of an anniversary card and can be as personal as you desire.
