Photo Checklist for Wedding Planners
- Have your clients sit for an engagement portrait. Include a conventional head shot for engagement announcements. Ask the photographer to capture the couple in a loving embrace, laughing, swinging in a swing set or walking on railroad tracks. Engagement pictures will be an ideal time to capture the love of the couple before all of the stress of wedding planning kicks in.
- Include candid shots of the bride getting ready. Her mother should place her veil and jewelry on as the photographer snaps photos. Include pictures of the bridesmaids doing their own makeup, helping with the bride's makeup and fixing the train of her dress. Also add similar pictures on the groom's side, such as the groom adjusting his tie, placing his boutonniere on his tuxedo and helping the groomsmen adjust their tuxedos. Include family pictures, such as the bride pinning a corsage on her mother, the mother of the bride hugging her or the groom pinning a boutonniere on his father.
- Include pictures that tell the couple's love story. Take a picture of the groom waiting anxiously for his bride, the kiss, the couple's joyous smile during the recession, the first dance and older couples dancing. Include loving pictures of the couple dancing with their parents or the father of the bride tearing up. Also include a picture of the bride by herself looking into a mirror for a pretty portrait.
- Make a list of pictures the couple will laugh at later. Make a list of potentially fun shots, such as guests doing funny dance moves, the best man's toast, the garter toss, children playing or an older sleeping guest. Ask the couple if there are any personal elements of the wedding they would like to capture; include these moments on your checklist.
- Make sure your checklist includes traditional wedding pictures. This includes pictures of the venue, the cake, wedding stationery, food, cocktails, centerpieces, cutting the cake, the exchange of rings, the bride walking down the aisle, guests being seated and the unity ceremony. Also, include pictures of the wedding party before and after the ceremony in posed positions. The last picture on the list should be the couple's departure.
