zupa grochowka
Definition: Polish for "split pea soup." Like American pea soup, "zupa grochowka" is made with a meaty ham bone. Poles use green or yellow split peas and add bacon, diced ham, potatoes, carrots and celery, and leave it chunky. Since ham on the bone is a favorite meal on Polish tables, this soup is very common.
