How to Paint a Fashion Doll Face
- 1). Identify the material your doll's face is composed of. Different materials require different care, paints, chalks and sealants. Most doll faces are created out of plastic, acrylic or resin.
- 2). Seal the doll's face with spray-can sealant to protect the original material. Allow the sealant to dry completely.
- 3). Apply a chalk or oil-free paint to each cheek of the doll for blush. Makeup brushes, fine art brushes or airbrushing work best.
- 4). Mist the doll's face with another layer of sealant. Allow this layer to dry.
- 5). Brush a layer of paint to the doll's lips. Acrylic paint works best for lips; mix it with a thinner to create a glossy look. Allow the lips to dry.
- 6). Paint the inside area of the doll's eyes in an acrylic color. Allow this to dry, and then apply a dark liner all around the perimeter of the eye. Add eye shadowing with either chalk or acrylic paint after the liner dries. Allow the eyes to dry.
- 7). Paint the eyelashes, starting with the lower lashes first. Use a fine liner brush to create fine lashes which taper at the ends. Practice your strokes on a piece of porcelain before painting your doll to gain confidence in your abilities.
- 8). Brush on the doll's eyebrows, using a fine liner brush and an acrylic paint. Allow this to dry.
- 9). Spray another layer of sealant to the doll's face. Allow this to dry.
