Having white spots on your tonsils can be a bit alarming.
The first time you notice one or several, chances are very good that you're going to attribute the problem to a throat infection.
This seems like a natural conclusion to draw, but it's not the right one.
Those small, white specks are actually tonsil stones and they can cause all sorts of problems including bad breath and a strange taste in your mouth.
If you have this problem now, there are actually ways you can get rid of tonsil stones right from home.
Using a Water Pik device is one way to remove white spots on tonsils.
This is a little on the pricey side, but if you happen to have one sitting around, it's certainly worth a try.
You'll need to be in front of the mirror when you attempt this.
Simply open your mouth and shoot the water directly at the tonsil stone.
It can get a little messy so ensure you have a towel nearby.
You'll need to repeat the procedure for each tonsil stone that is visible.
Another method to remove white spots on tonsils is a little more invasive.
This involves using something long and straight, such as a chop stick.
You'll need to have control of your gag reflex in order for this to be successful, but essentially what you're trying to accomplish is to dislodge the tonsil stone by pressing on it with the end of the chopstick.
If you have several large stones you'll need to repeat this for each one until they break away.
