Information About Microsoft Security Essentials (mse)
The launch was done in just four countries, the U.S., Brazil, China and Israel (with their respective languages) and was limited to 75000 downloads. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to download the MSE and since its launch on June 23, 2009, I have been testing their potential.
Microsoft Security Essentials is characterized by a set of security applications, which aggregates a client antimalware, anti-virus and anti-spyware. Its interface is a combination of menus, descriptions, and some quick options. His visual style is very simple and elegant, much more pleasant than that of some free antivirus on the market (read antivir, avast and avg).
The MSE runs in the background is light and does not hinder the proper use and computer performance. The Memory consumption is despicable in normal use. In the same way, the updates also run in the background, which means that the anti-virus window can be closed while downloading the new definitions is performed. It is much more convenient than the pop-ups from your competitors.
Despite all this ease and simplicity, the MSE performs very well its role of anti-virus. In "Full" security application scans the entire computer, recognizing all the files and intentionally infected sites I used for testing.
Also that the virus also maintains a real-time monitoring system, analyzing processes, folders, and removable devices, so that everything is dangerous can be readily detected.
One cool feature is the presentation of data infected. MSE presents all the way to the source of infection, what is happening with your machine and a link to more information about the malware identified.
The MSE is also fully configurable, ranging from scheduling system check and deletions of files monitored by default actions in order to detect malware and sending the artifact for analysis of the online community, that is Microsoft SpyNet.
In short, the MSE is an excellent antivirus which still has some weaknesses, but it accomplishes very well the activity for which it was developed. I did tests in Virtual Machine downloading infected files, accessing malicious sites using macros Office, among others, and everything was detected successfully.
