To get fit requires eating right and exercising too.
But much exercise is painful and often just down right boring.
One exercise machine that remains popular year after year is the exercise bike.
A recumbent stationary bike represents much of the reason why bikes stay popular.

If exercise is convenient or part of your daily routine it more likely gets done.

By teaming electronic drives with computers, the better bikes include many programmed workout routines.
What that provides is a simulation of actual real-world riding conditions.
That means you get varied conditions reflected in pedal effort just as you would if riding in hills or level areas.
By varying riding conditions the rides stay interesting and less likely to create workout killing boredom.
Finally, another strange feature that keeps riders going is comfort.
But isn't exercise about effort and pain? In a way yes, but...
You want the pain of effort and not the pain of strained backs and sore seats.
In those cases, comfortable riding positions and good seats add to time in the saddle and resulting improvement.
Luckily, that comfort just goes right along with the better recumbent bikes.
You might even say that is why they exist, for comfort and ease of use.
The recumbent stationary bike exists to eliminate pain and boredom.
By providing an interesting and yet comfortable ride, these machines become tools for better fitness and weight loss too.
They only work if used, but they do encourage use.
