How to Make a Square From Cut Paper
- 1). Lay a rectangle of paper on a flat table with the narrow edge facing you. For example, the narrow edge of a piece of typing paper measuring 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches is 8 1/2 inches wide.
- 2). Grasp the right upper corner of the paper and pull it up and all the way over until the right corner touches the left edge of the paper.
- 3). Keep the paper flat on the table and align the entire right edge perfectly with the left edge to create a triangle with its apex in the left upper corner.
- 4). Hold the edge in alignment and carefully press the fold making up the long side of the triangle until it lies flat. You will then have a triangle with a strip beneath it that's the width of the original paper.
- 5). Hold the triangle closed on the left side and carefully cut off the remaining strip of paper along the bottom edge nearest to you.
- 6). Unfold and smooth out the crease in the paper for a perfect square.
