Weight loss myths and information are everywhere you look. They are seen in magazines, publications, newspapers, TV, and the internet. Each year, billions of dollars are spent on weight loss solutions. Here, I am going to expose some of the more popular myths to you today.

Myth 1: You need to get your target heart rate in the fat burning zone. This is stupid all together. Yes, when you reach 65% of your max target heart rate, you will burn mostly fat for fuel. But what you don't know is that if you are out of shape, this can take up to 20 minutes for all of the necessary systems to get in place before you can start burning fat. Also, the slower cardio you perform over time, the less and less calories you will burn. The body will adapt and there goes your fat burning efforts. You need to perform interval style training to combat this. This burns more calories and keeps your metabolism raised for a longer period of time as compared to jogging.

Myth 2: Fat is bad for your and will be stored as fat. Fat is great for you and you probably need more of it in your diet. Omega 3 fatty acids, the main fat found in fish has been found to aid in body fat reductions. This is awesome news. Our bodies need fat for our hair, nails, skin, and hormone production. By getting rid of all fat, you are putting yourself at serious risk for certain medical conditions. Now all fat is not created equal. Tran's fat is the type of fat you want to stay away from. It has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Anything with the ingredients on the back saying hydrogenated is Tran's fat. So stay away. Some food items that contain a lot of Tran's fats are fried foods and baked goods.

These are just 2 myths out of many that I will be exposing in upcoming articles. Read, learn and apply.
