Step-by-Step Origami Rose Cubes
- 1). Place one of the pink origami papers on a flat work area. Fold the paper into half. Unfold the paper.
- 2). Fold one the halves down to the halfway crease made. Repeat for the other side, and unfold.
- 3). Place the paper so that the creases are vertical. Fold the right corner to align it with the crease made on the very left. Unfold the paper. Rotate the paper 180 degrees and do the same with the opposite corner.
- 4). Keep the corner closest to you folded down. Pull back on the tip and push down on the left-most crease. The left corner will be erect.
- 5). Fold down the erect corner and smooth it down so its crease aligns with the bottom edge.
- 6). Rotate the paper 180 degrees. Slightly pull up on the corner folded just before, simultaneously pulling down on the largest corner so that the crease closest to you fits under that corner and folds backwards.
- 7). Smooth down the corner opposite you. Then push down on the one corner left, creating an S-like shape. Fold down the two bits of paper on the edges, creating a kite-like figure.
- 8). Fold down both sides so that their edges are aligned with the crease in the middle of the kite. Unfold only these creases. See reference 1 for clarification.
- 9). Repeat for the other red papers.
- 1). Repeat petal steps 1 to 3.
- 2). Keep one folded edge closer to you. Pull back on the tip and fold its left-most crease down so that it is aligned with the bottom edge. One side will be erect. Fold it down also as it was done for the petals.
- 3). Fold the right corner so that its point is directly opposite the other corners point and fold this whole section up so that its right edge is aligned with the middle crease.
- 4). Rotate the paper 180 degrees and pull up on the top right flap, simultaneously putting the bottom corner under it. Pull back on the left most crease and smooth it down to align it with the bottom of the paper.
- 5). Smooth down both sections of the paper.
- 6). Flip the paper over. There will be a small piece of paper on one side; fold it back. Fold this section back so that its tip does not exceed the side of the paper.
- 7). Fold up the bottom corner and align it with the edge of the other tip. Unfold the last two creases only.
- 1). Turn over the leaves.Take a first leaf, and tuck in its long edge into the folds of a second leaf. Tuck in the third leafs longest edge into the first leaf. Repeat with the edges left.
- 2). Repeat the same procedure for putting together the petals.
- 3). Take hold of the leaf structure. Keep the side of the pyramid in your hand and start to ease in the flower edges into the folds of the leaves and vice versa.
- 4). Put two fingers under both edges of each side of the flower and pull up gently.
- 5). Fold the leaves into the underside of the petals. Now you can flatten the petals to make a cube, or open them to make a rose. See the references for any queries or illustrations.
