Food is not only necessary for our survival; it also does wonders for our psyche. A taste of something sweet can chase away the everyday blues. The smell of fresh baked bread or a favorite entrée can take you back to your childhood. It is not surprising that culinary arts festivals are popular gatherings across the United States, including in Illinois. - Chocolate, chocolate everywhere is the theme of this annual springtime festival. Local restaurants and shops get together and ply you with double chocolate cake, chocolate dipped strawberries and popcorn with drizzled chocolate. Indulge in the ultimate adult beverage, a chocolate martini. The event is held in the Long Grove historic village. Learn which wines go with your chocolate treats and how to make some of your own chocolate bits of heaven. Sandwiches, smoothies and beer of the non-chocolate variety are available to balance things out. Long Grove is 35 miles northwest of Chicago.
