    Fruits

    • Fruits are loaded with nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins, water and tons of flavor. They also happen to free of fat and should be consumed on a daily basis for good health. Fat-free fruits include bananas, apples, pears, berries, grapes, melon and tomatoes.

It should be noted that while fruit is free of fat, it is relatively high in sugar. While natural sugar is preferable to refined, white sugar, it is still high in calories and should be limited to fewer than five servings per day. The only fruits to limit are avocados and coconuts, since both are naturally high in fat.

    Vegetables

All vegetables are naturally fat-free; however, the way in which they are prepared can dramatically affect the fat content. Steam veggies or consume them raw when you are watching your fat intake. Vegetables like spinach, lettuce, cucumbers, squash, eggplant, kale and green peppers are ideal choices for fat-free food. The Center for Disease Control recommends consuming at least five servings of vegetables each day. Be careful with foods like potatoes and yams because, while fat-free, these veggies are high in carbohydrates which are, in turn, high in calories compared to other vegetables.

    Beans

    • Lean protein sources are important to your daily diet. Meats, cheeses and eggs all contain fat; however, many varieties of beans contain just trace amounts of fat (less than 0.5 g per serving) and are packed with protein.
